As part of our History topic ‘The Romans’ we visited the Grosvenor Museum in Chester. The children explored the Roman Galleries and took part in a Roman workshop where they dressed up in Roman clothes, created their own Roman mosaic and explored artefacts and replicas to discover what life was like in Roman times.
The highlight of the day for the children was dressing up as a Roman soldier and chanting through the streets of Chester to the amphitheatre. Here they re-created Roman army formations and found out about the Gladiator fights that would have happened there in the past.
When we returned to school the children created their own Roman artefact model, which will go towards their Bridge Builder Award. They are all fabulous and show just how much the children have really enjoyed learning about the Romans.
